Applied Mech. News 1995-96
The Department is offering testing and consultancy services to various Govt. Deptts., Zilla Parishad and other Private and Public bodies. The consultancy is given in the nature of designing and checking of the proposed public buildings, water retaining structures etc.
Papers Published / Conferences Attended :

(a) Presented a paper in the International Conference on stability of structures at Coimbatore, India on June 7-9, 1995.
(b) Presented a paper in National Seminar on Civil Engineering in Disaster Management at Trivandrum on December 7-8, 1995.
M.E. Dissertations :
Ten students have completed their M.E. Dissertation work in this academic year, and nine more students are working for their M.E. Dissertations under the guidance of Dr. K.T. Krishnaswamy, Dr. A.B. Kulkarni, Dr. M.R. Shiyekar and Prof. S.V. Gharpure. A few teachers of this Department have sent their papers for presentation in the Seminar.

Shri S.A. Angalekar, Lecturer, Polytechnic wing has been transfered to Degree side.
Under the auspices of late S. B. Joshi Memorial Fund, a lecture by Dr. C. M. Pandit an Eminent Bridge Engineer from Bombay was arranged on 23/02/1995. He delivered a talk on the subject "Design and Construction of Bridges". During the course of the lectures, he stressed on the intricate points, during the analysis, design and construction of the bridges with examples. Practicing Engineers from Pune, Sangli and Kolhapur were present for the lecture.
POLYTECHNIC WING
(1) Paper entitled Limit Design of R.C. Frames with predetermined redistribution factors is accepted for the national seminar on materials and structures at I.I.Sc., Banglore to be held on 26th july, 1996. The paper is authored by Dr. A.B. Kulkarni ,and Shri S.M. Kulkarni.
(2) Ph.D thesis entitled 'Probabilistic Analysis and Design of structures; is submitted to the Shiva ji University, Kolhapur by Shri S.M. Kulkarni, H.D.D.A.P.M. (P.W.)
(3) Shri S.M. Shiyekar was appointed in the department for temporary assignment during this academic year.
