Applied Mech, Dept News 1989-90

From the grants received from the Govt. of India under the scheme of Direct Central Assistance the Department has purchased the following major equipments :
1) F.F.T. Analyser - for dynamic testing of modern and phototype structures.
2) 200 channel Strain Measuring Bridge (Electronic)
3) Cement Concrete Brick making machine.
4) Controlled condition chamber.
5) Tension- compression proving ring.
6) P.C. - 80 System. The Department is offering consultancy services in the field of structural engg. to the municipalities and other Govt. Organizations and private contractors.

RETIREMENT Shri. B.M. Adsule, Lab. Asstt retired on 31-12-1989. We wish him a happy long life.

POLYTECHNIC WING
[1] Under modernisation of Library, a sum of Rs. nineteen thousand and odd is received by the Department towards acquization of books and magazines. Funds are mostly utilized.
[2] Department has also been allotted a sum of Rs.Seventy five thousand to modernise the laboratories. The amount will be used in coming months.
[3] Shri. S.M. Kulkarni (H.O.D.):
(a) Attended Workshop on 'Curriculum Development' organized by T.T.T.I., Extension Centre, Pune, during 17th to 22nd April 1989 for IInd and IIIrd year civil Engg. He participated in modification of syllabbi, for S.Y. and T.Y Civil.
(b) Gave a talk on AIR Sangli, on the eve of Engineers' Day (15-9-89) The theme was 'Social Engg. for Sustained Development'
(c) Attended ISTE Winter School on Educational Video Film Production organised by T.T.T.I., Chandigarh, during 11-21 December 1989.
(d) worked as Member, Central Purchase Committee of the College upto Jan. 1990.
[4] Educational Tour: Shri. S.A. Anglekar, Shri. C.S.Kotibhaskar and Shri. K.S. Kadam conduc-ted a tour of second and final year diploma students in civil engineerin at Tulsi, Kallammawadi, Radhanagari dam site and power station on 16th and 17th Feb 1990. Mr. Ajit Kamble and Abhijit Kulkarni of T.Y. Civil class were the Students organizers. The Book 'Elements of Applied Mechanics' written by Shri. S.M. Kulkarni is approved by the Board of Tech. Exams. M.S, as 'References Book'
