Development Schemes :
Under the Development Phase III - sanctition ed by the State and Central Governments incidental to increase in the intake capacity at the College, the construction of buildings worth Rs. 10,67,063/- has been almost completed. The construction of Students' Amenities Centre taken in hand last year under this scheme, is almost complete and the work of providing furniture etc. for this Centre is in progress. We hope to bring this building in use from the 26th of January. The building will house the Can teen, Recreation room for the students, the Co-operative Stores and the Dispensary.
Under this scheme we have added to the college assets, furniture worth Rs. 1,53,000/- Equipment valued at Rs.5,25,108/- has also been procured and installed at the College under this scheme.
Consequeut to the change-over in the duration of the Bachelor's Degree Courses at the College from three years to four years, the State and the Central Govern-ments have sanctioned a development programme to provide additional facilities required for the implementation of the change-over.
Under this scheme, so far, an amount of Rs. 3,31,820/- has been spent for constru-ction of additional buildings; Rs. 10,630/-for providing additional furniture; Rs. 2,37,160/- for providing additional equip-ment; and Rs. 40,000/- on additional books. We expect to complete this programme fully by the end of the current calendar year.
Research on Industrial Problems :
For the last few years efforts are being made to help the industries around Sangli by carrying out research on problems faced by them. The attitude of the industria-lists has been very encouraging and the
College has received generous help in these efforts from the Shetkari Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana Ltd., Sangli, Kirloskar Group of Industries, Walchandnagar Indus-tries, Ltd., and many others. With the help of these Industries; the Shivaji University, Kolhapur; the University Grants Commission, New Delhi; and the Maharashtra Industrial Reserarch Council, Bombay, it has been possible to continue work in the field of research at this College.
