Retired Teachers - Remembrances by Prof.L. G. Gole

My few rememberences of  (RETIRED) Teaching  Staff of WCE

I am aware that following list is not complete and is only a representative. 

( 01). Late Prin. G. N. Gokhale.Our first Principal. He used to come to our home, Patwardhan Bungalow, Shriram Mandir Miraj Road, Sangli. This Patwardhan (my aunt's husband) was one of the founders of WCE , founded by late Dhondumama Sathe, Darshane etc. 

(02) Late Prin. V.K. Kelkar.Our first principal, after our College became WCE  in 1954. He was very impressive, but called anyone with any name. 

(03). Late Prof. V.V. Barve. Master in teaching SURVEY, Master in Rector's duties. Great respected  but great threatening person. At the same time, looking after students like parents.  Vitthal Pawar was his true assistant. All past Students still remember his goodness even now. 

I was required to take  Prof.Barve's  charge as Rector and Survey teacher (including his quarters), after he retired.

(04). Late Prin. Bapusaheb Kanitkar. He was my cousin brother of my cousin brother (Patwardhan). Thorough gentleman, knowing every thing of each staff. Was helpful to everyone in the College, including non teaching staff. 

(05). Late Prof. G. D. Joglekar, HOD. C.E. Dept. Was our teacher in B.E. class.

(06). Late Prof. Nanasaheb Abhyankar. Our  teacher. Was Developer and Contractor of WCE. 

(07). Late Prof. Brahamanalkar. HOD C.E. Dept. when I joined in 1968. I had chance to roam with him in  Belgavi and other places for excursion of Soil Mechanics Projects. 

(08). Late Prof.  R.T.Ranade. Second in Command of C.E.Dept. Writer of उत्कृष्ट मराठीबुक्स। मनोरंजन गोष्टी >>बहुरंगी करमणूक।. 

(09). Dr. P.A.Kulkarni. Our longest (1978 to 1997) Principal. Great developer in buildings and management of WCE. 

(10). Dr. K.T.K. our H.O.D. of APPL.MECH. Dept. and Vice Peincipal.

(11 & 12) Gharpure & Dr. A.B.Kulkarni. Strong Pillars of dept. Active part in construction of Development Block Hostels and every function in Tilak hall. 

(13) and  and Mi. Gole. Rector, teacher of Appl. Mech. Now trying to remember all.

(14). Dr. Shiyrekar. Mastery in subjects, Computer knowledge, Computerisation of F.E. Admission work. 

(15). Late Prof. M.V. Joglekar.Active in Gatherings. Became First Principal (both going out of WCE and)  Sakharale College . 

(16). Late Dr. Santpur. Became Principal of TKIT, Warananagar. 

(17). Late M.Y. Joshi. HOD Electronics Dept., passed away early. 

(18 & 19). Deval (HOD) and Y.G.Kale both Electrical dept. Passed away early. Deval was a good Bridge Player. 

(20) Late S. G. Ranade HOD Geology Dept. succeeding Late Prof. Sathe.   & Prof. G.K.Pathak.  Both Good Bridge Players with Mrs. Ashatai Ranade & Mrs. Pathak.  Prof Pathak (now 86 years age ) and Mi Gole  won  First Bridge Tournaments of Sangli Distr.  Bridge Assn. in 1975.  

(21 & 22). Late Prof. Sakhadev &  Prof Talathi C.E.Dept. / Sakhadev and G.K.Pathak (with Prof R.R.Marathe) were developers and founders of our SHRI. SHILP CHINTAMANI HOUSING SOCIETY,…

(30,31,32,33,34,35). Prof. J.G.Kulkarni, Digewade, Shriram Kanitkar, M.S.Joshi, Gajenradadkar, G.D.Bhide. All Mech. Dept.These are all REAL WHEELS of the Dept. 

(36,37,38). Patankar, Dr. S. M. Kulkarni, Anglekar. All App. Dept. Members. Dept. could reliy on them safely. 

(39). Inamdar, Electrical Dept. Developed it nicely. 

(40 ,41,42 ). B.D.Kelkar, N.D.Bapat, Late G. M. Gavali . All my classmates at City High School, Sangli, hoto 1955. They were also responsible staff mates  in WCE. 

(43).LATE BUT NOT THE LAST,  Late V.V.Ketkar. HOD. Maths. Well, his daughter Miss. Pushpa Ketkar, and one Miss. Pushpa Watve, both FIRST LADY STUDENTS OF WCE, passing B.E. in 1961.   

(44,45,46,47). Prof. Bhat, Dr. Virkar, V.V.LOKARE, V.M.KULKARNI all very good in every respect. Mrs. Bhat, Mrs. Virkar and Mrs. Gole are well friends, even now. 

(48) Dr. Yardi,Long Principal, WCE. He also managed the activities of WCE skillfully. 

(49). Dr. R.N.Aranake, HOD. MATHS. (Today 86 years). He is CHAMPION IN SWIMMING.PRIZE HOLDER at International Events.

(50) Prin. Hemant Keshav Abhyankar. Left WCE, And became Principal at Joparyant and then became Principal, Director and WHILE AND SOLE EVERYTHING at VIT. PUNE. 

(51). Dr. Prof. K.S. Wagh, HOD. CIVIL.Did his duties very well. 

(51,52 ,53, 54 and 55).  Dahake, Bhalwankar, Pawar, Late S.D.Patil (V.Principal), Shrimati. Rekha Patil. Were also good ones.
