Mech Dept News 1995-96

AICTE has sanctioned a grant of Rs. 7.5 lacs for modernisation of the I.C. engines laboratory. M/s. Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd., Pune has donated a 5KW oil engine and a coupled water brake type dynamometer to our department costing togater about Rs. 40,000/-

Efforts of our past students and Assoc. Vice President of the company Shri. D.R. Swar could materialised this. M/s. Premier Automobiles Ltd. Mumbai has promised to donate a NE 118 Engine in Foundry and a coupled dynamometer and we are sure to receive the same soon. The department is receiving assistance from the world Bank course Technology.

Dynamic laboratory of Mechanical Deptt. is modernised by adding sophisticated equipments namely
Single channel FFT analyzer,
Dual channel FFT analyzer,
NISA software, Proplotters, x-y recorders etc.
under AICTE a DT grant Rs. 7.5 lacs.

( 1 ) Prof. Dr. N.K. Sane "Natural Convection Heat Transfer form Horizontal rectangular fin arrays with a rectangular notch at the centre." Paper published at 2nd ASME - ISHMT Conference held at REC Surathkalin Dec. 1995.

(b) A conference on "Zero mismatch in Industry Institute Partnership at WIT Solapur.

Testing & Consultancy Work :
(1) Testing and inspection work of steel furniture manufactured in local industries as per MSSIDC'S specification for R.T.O. Sangli has been carried out by Shri J. G. Gajendragadkar and Shri. V.K. Joshi.

(2) As requested by President Z.P. Sangli our staff member Shri. J.G. Gajendragadkar and Shri. V.K. Joshi has carried out testing & inspection work for the gran storage bins fabricated in local industries.

(3) Measurement and inspection work for etched Glan scales (frosted & Plain) for metal hardness testing machine from Shri. V.K. Joshi under kind guidance of Dr. N.K. Sane, Head, Mech. Engg. Deptt.

(4) Measurement of Surface Roughness of various jobs for industries are carried out by Shri. M.Y.Khire.

(5) Dr. N.K. Sane and Shri V.K. Joshi from Mech. Engg. Deptt. has carried out following consultancy work :
(a) Consultation to M s. Kulkarni Engg. Associates Blower division M.I.D.C. Kupwad for calibration and testing of test ring for their root blowers as per B.S. 1042 Sect. 1.1.1981
(b) Consultation to Hon. Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital, Ichalkaranji, for capacity wise selection of laundry equipments & machinary including water heating systems alongwith required staff pattern for their 100 beds Hospital at Ichalkaranji.
(c) Consultation to M's Versatile equipments and instruments Gokulshirgaon for caliberation of their various soil testing and foundry sand testing machines and equipments.

(1) Shri. S.G. Kanitkar, has rejoined the Dept. as Head of the Dept. (P.W.) from 14-2-1996.
(2) Shri. A.V. Deshingkar is retired on 31-3-1996 after a long tenure of 30 years
of service in the dept. We wish him happy & long life in future.
