1 ) Prof. S. G. Joshi has received University Grants Commission Research Grant for the Project entitled " Determination of Resonant Frequencies of Torsional Vibrations of a Multicylinder I. C. Engine Crankshaft using an Electrical Analog ". A Crankshaft system of a 40 h. p., 4 cylinder Kirloskar Diesel Engine, coupled to a generator was taken for vibration analysis.
2 ) Prof. A. V. Deshingkar was awarded a Prize of Rs. 50/- for the best solution of a technical problem of infinitely variable speed drive published in " Ma-nufacturing Engineering " a monthly publication, Poona, July, 1971. (Details of the problem and solution appear as a seperate article in the technical section ).
3 ) Prof. B. D. Kelkar and Prof. A. V. Deshingkar published three articles in " Invention Intelligence ", New Delhi, August, September and November, 1971
i ) Toys- Something More Than Toys, ii) Motion Toys, iii) Mechanisms in Motion Toys.
4 ) Prof. B. D. Kelkar has published an article entitled " cii 4Mr9-T. 9* 'NWT " in " " of Maratha
Chamber of Commerce and industries, Poona, August, 1971.
5 ) Following projects have been underta-ken as a part of co-operation in Indu-stry and Education and the work is being looked after by Prof. M. G. Bhat and Prof. B. D. Kelkar :
i) Stress Analysis of Sluice Valve Body-Kirloskar Brothers. Ltd. Kirloskar-wadi.
it) Stress Analysis and Testing of Diesel. Engine Crankshaft - Cooper Engi-neering Ltd. , Satara Road.
6 ) Prof. B. D. Kelkar and Prof. A. V. Deshingkar have been given a token Research Grant by the Shivaji Univer- • sity, Kolhapur, for the project- " Ana-lysis and Synthesis of Mechanisms in Toys ".
7 ) Prof.. P. A. Kulkarni has joined the I. I. T., Madras, for his doctoral studies in " Magnetohydrodynamic Bearings " in August, 1971.
8 ) Optimum design of helical Gears and testing of helical Gears by Back to Back Method " for failure by pitting. Shri N. D. Bapat has completed his work on this project and has submitted the same in partial fulfilment of his M. E. Degree.
