Electrical Dept news 1973

1. Dr. Y. G. Paithankar, Professor of Electrical Engineering, at V. R. College of Engineering, Nagpur delivered a series of lectures on • Line Protection' and other related topics to M. E. ( Power System ) students from 12th to 17th June 1972.

2) Prof. U. Gudaru, of V R. College of Engineering, Nagpur delivered a series of Lectures on " Economic Aspects of Operation and Load Frequency control of Power Systems" to M. E. (Power System) students from 6th to Ilth August, 1972.

3) Prof. A. K. Mahalanobis Professor of Electrical Engineering, at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi delivered a series of lectures on " Control system " covering two main areas " (i) stability and (ii) Optimization " to M. E. (Control System) students from 24th to 29th September, 1972.

4) Mr. V V. Lokare completed his work on " The performance Analysis of Single. Phase Induction Motors" a dissertation in partial fulfilment for his M. E. (Elec.) Degree. The work involved investigation of performance characteristics of single phase induction motors based on the two most widely used theories-the Double-Revolving field theory and the Cross-Field theory-and their comparison from the point of view of work involved, accuracy and aid to visualiz-ation. The theoretical results were also compared with experimental results obtained by actual tests on motors.
He has successfully completed all the requirements for M. E. (Elec.) Degree.

5) Experimental work is being carried out in connection with Ferro-resonance due to Coupled charges by Prof. T. V. Sreenivasan.

6) Prof. U. Gudaru is doing research on " Transient Stability F egions for Multima -chine Power Systems by the Direct method of Lyapunov."
