1) Equipments purchased :
1. 15 computer systems with pentium 100,16MB,2 GB & colour SVGA Monitors purchased.
2. SCO UNIX openserver Re 1.5 & ORACLE for workgroups V.7.1 installation completed. 3. National Information centre (NIC) mail installation in progress.

2) Staff : New staff members joined in the department Mrs. S. D. Deshpande Mr. M. G. Patil Miss. K. K.Wagh. Mrs. S. P. Sonawane. Mr. N. N. Tamboli. Shri D. L. Pandhare is sponsored for higher education and releaved on study leave. Dr. P. J. Kulkarni has been appointed as professor & took a charge of Head of Department of Computer Science & Engg. Department,

Mr. D. B. Kulkarni is appointed as Assistant Professor in Computer Science and Engineering Department.

3) Grants Received : Department received a grant of Rs. 6 Lakhs under thrust area programme from AICTE New Delhi for setting up a laboratory of 'Parallel Processing & Distributed Computing.”

4) Activities :
Department is conducting a one year university approved course 'Diploma in Computer Science' with intake of 40. A new laboratory named 'Hardware Laboratory' has been set up,

5) Personal Development :
Shri D. B. Kulkarni. 1. Presented a paper on 'Neural Network Application' at International Conference INCARE - 96 held at Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi.
2. Published a paper on 'Signature Identification' at national conference held at College of Engineering, Bhatinda.
3 Attended one week course on performance Appraisal & Deployment system at Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli.
4 Published a paper on 'Image encoding using fractals' at National Conference at R.E.C. Suratkal.
5. Attended state level ISTE convention held at Walchand College of Engg., Sangli,

Shri J. G. Kanitkar
1. Attended short term course on Broad Band Networking, sponsored by Joint Telematics Group of India at I.I.T. Kanpur.
2. Attended state level ISTE convention held at Walchand College of Engg., Sangli. 3. Attended one week course on PADS, at Walchand College of Engg., Sangli.
4. Received re-certification of Certified Network Engineer (C.N.E,) from Novell U.S.A.
