(A) Environmental Engineering Wing
The international seminar on "Environmental Challenges in Emerging Economy" was organised from 2nd April 98 to 5th April 98. The first two days were utilised for field visits to nearby industries and on 4th and 5th April, papers were presented. The seminar was inaugarated at the hands of noted environmentalist Dr. Rashmi Mayur of International Institute for sustainable Development, Mumbai. Noted Environmentalists Dr. G. D. Agarwal, Dr. P. K. Nyati, Dr. S. K. Gupta delivered special lectures. About hundred delegates participated. The seminar was sponsored by ministry of Environment and forest, New Delhi. (B)
(B) On 9th April 98, one day seminar was held on "Integrated Environmental management for growing cities" The seminar was inaugarated by Hon. Shri. Annasaheb Dange, Minister for water supply and rural development, Govt. of Maharashtra. The seminar was sponsored by Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran. About 100 delegates participated in the seminar
(C) Routine Laboratory analysis for water, waste water and Air monitoring was carried out for public bodies, private. organisations etc.

1 Inagurated the "Nature's Club" at Tatyasaheb Kore Institute of Technology and Engineering, Warnanagar on 19th September 1998.
2 Delivered a lecture on the Development of Methodology of Environmental Audit in Deistillery Industries in Western Maharashtra" on 7th Ocotber 1998 at Central Pollution 'Control Board, Parivesh Bhavan, Delhi - 32.
3. Delivered an Invited talk on the Basic Concepts of Distillery Waste on 8th January 1998 organised by Central Pollution Board, Regional Centre, Bhopal on the topics of "Oreration and Maintenance of Effluent Treatment Plants in Disstilaries" 8 - 10th January, 1998.
4. Invited to participate the N G 0 meet on the topic of Gross root movement for sustainable Development organised by International Institute of Sustainable Development, Mumbai on 2 - 4 February, 1998 at M I.T., Pune.
5. "Efficiency of different Filler materials and Bacterial cultures in Compositing Process" WEFTEC - Asia 1998, March 7- 11, 1998, Singapore.
6. Co-ordinator of the International Seminar on "Environmental Challenges in Emerging Economies" organised by Walchand College of Engineering, Sangli 4th -5th April. 1998.
7. National Expert Committee member of the "Evaluation of Technologies and Disposal methods for Distillery Waste" Appointed by Central Pollution Control Board, Delhi.
8. Conferred as "Fellow" of Institute of Environmental Engineers (India).

2. "Effect of contamination by Sugar - Industry waste on Black cotton soil -- Dr. K. S. Wagh Paper has been presented at Indian National Conference on "GEOENVIRONMENT-held at M.N.R.E.C. Alahabad between 9th to 11th April, 1998.

2. Indian Geotechnical Conference :1997 - "Geotechnical Engineering - Theory & practice" held between 17th to 20th December 1997 at M.S. University, Baroda.
3. "Waste - Containment with Geosynthetics- - QIP short course held between 16th to 21st February 1998 at 1.1.T., Delhi.
4. GEOENVIRONMEN" National Seminar on Geo-environment held at M.N.R.E.C. Allahabad between 9th to 11th April, 1998.
5. Participated and assisted in organising international seminar on "Environmental Challenges in Emerging Economy" held at W.C.E., Sangli on 3rd & 4th Aprii. 1998.
(C) Testing and Consultancy Work :
1. Testing work and consultancy in the following field : Bearing capacity analysis of design of foundation, slope stability and Earth pressure etc. for various projects from sangli and neghbouring districts
S. V. Ranade, Prof. J. M. Gadgil & Prof. V. D. Salkar have completed design consultancy work for Tillarinagar M.S.E.B. Colony water. treatment plant at Tillarinagar successfully.
Water Treatment plant - Hydraulic Design Dr. S.V.Ranade and Prof. J. M. Gadgil carried out work of checking, suggesting modifications in Hydraulic Design of Malwadi Rural Water Supply Scheme and Gandhinagar water supply scheme.
Ambient Air Quality monitoring was done at Jaysingpore for monitoring the air pollution from an industry by prof. J. M. Gadgil and Shri. G. G. Watve.
